MiiST was set up by its scientific director, Ran Levi, who is also a professor of mathematics at the University of Aberdeen.

For the past fifteen years he has been collaborating on various projects involving applications of mathematics to Neuroscience, Medicine and Artificial intelligence.

Professor Levi is a scientific consultant to INAIT SA. His is also a co-investigator in an EPSRC funded, five years project: The mathematical foundations of AI – An Erlangen Programme

Amongst his wide portfolio of research he currently participates in a project that investigates application of mathematics to Fast Field Cycling MRI and to ecological systems.
